About
Welcome to the delightful world of Prawn on the Lawn, an exceptional seafood restaurant nestled at 292, 294 St Paul's Rd, London N1 2LH. This charming establishment is not just a meal; it's an experience, meticulously crafted to tantalize the senses.
As I walked in, I was enveloped in a cozy atmosphere that encourages dining at a leisurely pace. The intimate space hums with energy, yet maintains a laid-back vibe where guests can unwind and indulge in superb seafood. The invested, yet appropriately casual service is a hallmark of Prawn on the Lawn, as echoed in the glowing reviews from satisfied patrons.
One highlight is their small plates, which invite exploration and sharing. The dishes are exciting and executed with precision—a testament to the culinary team’s expertise. For instance, the fish kofta emerges as a standout, surprising diners with its unique flavors, while the Thai scallops leave a lasting impression with every luscious bite. Each dish is a celebration of the ocean’s bounty, making it a must-try for seafood lovers!
Many guests suggest ordering a variety of plates to immerse yourself fully in the menu, a strategy that proved rewarding during my visit as I savored multiple tempting selections. Though the dining experience may come at a premium—an average bill of £100 for two without drinks—many agree that the quality and creativity of the cuisine justify the expense.
Whether you're grabbing a casual lunch or seeking a delightful dinner, Prawn on the Lawn repeatedly impresses, cementing its status as a top contender in the competitive realm of London seafood restaurants. Reservations are advised due to its limited seating, a clear indication of its popularity! Mark this gem on your culinary map; it’s a stop you won’t want to miss.
“ Exiting, interesting and well executed small plates with invested but appropriately casual service. This is a must stop spot in Padstow. We’d recommend avoiding the high tops tables, there is one very squished into the kitchen/bathroom area. But ultimately we’ve been back several times and would always recommend - worth the money. ”
“ We passed by this restaurant at least 3 times in the past weeks and we finally decided to try. We managed to walk in on a Saturday night and we had a really great dinner. The restaurant has some cozy vibes and the staff is really friendly; the food was so good that we kept ordering different items after we finished, it felt like we could have the whole menu. The surprise of the night was the fish kofta but the thai scallops were unreal too. Highly recommended, we'll come back some time soon ”
“ A lovely weekday lunch with my wife. The place is small, and was quickly full, so glad we came early as we hadn't booked. There is a laid back atmosphere here, with good service. The plates of seafood are small, so we ordered several. It was all very tasty. 100 for lunch for 2 without alcohol is a bit much, but since it was full nonetheless, they're obviously doing something right. I'll be back. Just not that often! ”
“ Went here for lunch, great food and great service. I recommend getting a few plates to share. Small venue with a great vibe ”
“ Excellent experience...finding a good fish restaurant in London is v difficult to find , but this is very much up there with anything that the West end or City have to offer. Small ...so you need to book...but all the food on offer were of the highest quality. Enjoy ”
“ Unusual dishes, fabulous service in a very compact working open kitchen and restaurant. Portions were very small and they ran out of some of the items we wanted to order. We loved the monkfish, turbot and lemon sole. Desserts were also great with the unusual basil pana cotta a hit! 50 a head without alcohol and although we enjoyed the food, we did leave a bit hungry ”
“ I've been wanting to come here for so long and finally managed to get a booking. I find that seafood places in London have often let me down, but POTL has officially become my favourite seafood restaurant. We ordered a few small plates to share, highlights include the scallops and the mackerel. Then we shared the plaice for our large plate, and wow, it was so so good. Cooked to perfection. And the potatoes on the side were 10/10. I'd come back over and over, and certainly a must visit restaurant for fish and seafood lovers. ”
“ Small contemporary seafood restaurant perfect for an anniversary dinner. I highly recommend going a bit earlier when it is less crowded. I thought the service was much better earlier in the night when they weren't so busy. The service overall was still good. Food wise - I loved how the portion sizes weren't so large that we could try a bunch of dishes. We started with oysters and bread with seaweed butter. I would have eaten a whole tub of the butter. We moved on to scallops, monkfish, roasted cauliflower, and octopus. All amazing, but what makes me a bit sad is they change their menu as soon as they run out of something, so I probably won't be able to come back and have the same dish. We watched them change their menu twice in the same night. (Definitely not a bad thing, but I do like being able to come back to a restaurant and get my favorite dishes). One tip - order everything at the beginning. Because they do tend to run out of dishes, make sure you reserve one (or two) for your table! ”
